Hello everyone,

After a few failed attempts, we are going to try to make it up to VT again this summer. We will be going most likley be aiming for mid to late August and are considering camping in either Fairfax or White River Junction. Any opinions on the better area? We love quaint walkable towns with cute shops, original attractions, breweries/wineries, etc. Fairfax is much closer to Burlington and Waterbury which we would like to see, but White River Junction is near Sugarbush and Billings Farms museum. Any major opinions on which has more to do around it? Not super into hiking/biking although we do love renting electric bikes. Segways are also always fun! Not really worried about water sports/activities. We are also looking to start out our trip in Ogonquit ME and are then traveling back to PA.

Not sure where you would camp in Fairfax. (I live next door.) There IS one campground here but appears to be mostly RVs and such. Fairfax is a residential down, not a vacation destination.

Don't know much about WRJ.

Whether you are tent camping or have an RV, you can research state parks, campgrounds, etc, and those resources usually include 'things to do in the area.'

I haven't been to White River Junction, but I've been to some picturesque towns closeby - Norwich & Woodstock, VT and Hanover, NH right across the river - you could easily shoot over to all three of those from WRJ. That's a nice area well worth visiting, with some nice places to walk and nice spots for foodies - yes, including brewpubs, covered bridges, old barns, general stores and other quaint New England stuff.
