Not to go off topic, but I love your status. How true it is! I almost feel like a Red Sox fan did pre-2004. Hopefully, Citi Field will bring some good karma to the 2009 season and many more to come.
I'll miss Shea, had many great memories there as a kid, and just don't like the new park being named after all things a banking and financial entity.

Some follow up information for those that are Mets fans and remember Shea. The website forgotten-ny.com has a very nice photo and text spread covering Shea from 1964 to the present. Lot's of good links also included in the two part spread.

Vter, what's up with all the recent worry about thread drift? I don't mean to be argumentative, but a good percentage of current and former Vermonters have NY roots, so what's the problem with a little reference for some nostalgia? It's not like I exceeded bandwidth posting pictures of opening day at Shea in '64 with the entire team roster and career stats, or are you a Yankee fan. To keep it on Vermont, a little 1964 trivia, there is a picture on the internet from the World's Fair with Miss Vermont posing with then Governor Phil Hoff holding a can of maple syrup. Can't recall her name at the moment, wonder if she still lives here in Vt. Correction: The photo is online at nycsubway.org and it portrays Miss College Queen, Alice Flores Ruby of Bennington standing with Gov Hoff on the subway at the fair in celebration of Vermont State Day at the Fair on 7/31/64. Additional trivia, the subway car that that are standing on in honor of Vermont has the state seal and large lettering "State of Vermont" stenciled on the side. Image also available by searching nycsubway.org.

Because, it is my job to "enforce" the terms of service.....the terms of service state that threads should stay on-topic....just trying doing my job .

Ha, ha, I used to be an "enforcer" of the law, but I also found that discretion got me a lot further in dealing with folks and situations. I had more handshakes and thank yous when lodging people into jail than getting spit or kicked or punched than several of my colleagues. But, if the law is the law, then press on and if need be start deleting posts and even banishing posters. I certainly hope that censorship for trivial issues will not become an issue here, but if it does then so be it.

Also, just curious, if we can show a "Vermont" link, then are out of state references OK?

As long as it has to do with the original topic of the thread, then yes. If not, you can always start a new thread
