Let this be a lesson for all Northerners who think Florida will be the paradise they think it will be.

No really, Florida's a sprawly mess where summers are unbearably hot and sticky and the forests are never as beautifully green as in Vermont.

Florida has a wonderful climate. July, Aug and Sept are hot but not near as humid as the midwest where I'm from. The rest of the year is heaven on earth, low humdity and I'd take those few hot months over harsh bitter winters ANYDAY.

Hi Lilybeans--I too tire of Florida--esp. at this time of year. For the next 4 months minimum I will be hating it down here. I keep trying to convince myself that I like it...but then my wanderlust takes over.

We moved here from Pennsylvania in 2001 and I miss my mountains terribly. We used to take several trips to New England-esp. for fall foilage. Foilage time is just absolutley enchanting--and I miss it. We have also made a few trips in the summer. I used to want to move up there and open an Inn or some other cool thing.

When I want that Vermont feeling I sit down and watch Baby Boom with Diane Keaton, Any of the Newhart episodes, or Beetlejuice...

You want to leave Florida but you didn’t tell why you are so sick of it?

My brother lives in Florida and is always trying to lure us there.
I went once as a young adult. It was July, it was hot and I was in a swimming pool.

Maybe when I am old. I may not stay in VT but I'm NOT going to Florida.

The heat, the humidity, the crowds, the traffic, the crime, the transient nature of the population, the development, the strip malls, the roads, the stress, the threat of hurricanes, the illegals everywhere, the overall quality of life. That about does it.

Every winter I look at those dead brown Vermont mountains and can't wait to get south where it's green.
Every spring when we leave the NJ Turnpike and see that first overwhelming view of the Catskills I can't believe I just spent 4 months in the flatland that is Florida

I feel the same way... My wife and i are on a three year plan to move up to Vermont. If i sell my business sooner then the sooner i move to Vermont. I have lived in Miami sine i was 5 and still to this day hate it. I can relate with Lilybeans. People dont lie when they say that South Florida is like a third world country. Im of hispanic decendance but its just way out of hand. Youve got all these people from different parts of south america and everyone want s to be the boss. As far as seasons we only have two seasons down here... summer and hurricane season.... Sure the economic situation and COL isnt the best right now Vermont but then again find me a perfect state...
