NoVA isn't bordered by the North.

^Nova is bordered by the North. Maryland is culturally Northern. Ive got friends from rural Maryland. Definitely Northerners. And just look at the survey that was posted above. Only 40% of people in Maryland believe they live in the South and even less consider themselves Southern. You can't label a place as Southern if most of the people there don't even think its the South

Regardless of culture or history, the earth says VA is mid atlantic. If you don't believe me, just look at an atlas. We also have an even amount of all four seasons. I'm a lifelong VA resident, and I have never identified myself as being a southerner or stating VA is southern.

If you're basing your opinion on names or monuments, you have to keep in mind that those statues, churches or road names have been around for a hundred years or more. It's not as if they are erecting new confederate statues every year.

And if we're going by history, we might as well be called England!

Sorry, I totally disagree. Maryland is not the North. Mid-Atlantic sure, but definitely not the North.

You would be the exception.

I can see how NoVA would be considered non-Southern in a cultural sense, but everywhere else in the state is largely considered Southern as the majority of posts in this thread show.

If we are going to go by that statement then Parts of North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Definitely Texas is not Southern............

Again that is is the most Ignorant statement/opinion that can be made about the Mason-Dixon Line....

Again that above comment is an Opinion and will not defeat the Fact that Maryland and Delaware is below the Mason-Dixon Line which makes both states Southern.....

It is a D--- Shame that in the 21st Century there is still an existence of Southerners that distill Hatred towards the state of Maryland to the point of denying the Fact that Maryland is a Southern State.........
