They are hot button issues for some people, even those who are not remotely affected. The philosophical concepts have been muddied over time. It is short hand for political discussion to associate a stance with conservatism or liberalism because one party endorses that position or the other.

They never did. Eyes and ears were wide open the whole time and that's why certain groups have voted the way they have over the past several decades compared to previous decades characterized by much less party loyalty.

Oh and it's pretty insulting to insinuate a group like Black Americans who have fought harder for the right to vote than anybody else now walk into voting booths blindly. We can't afford to do that.

I know a lot of people are uneasy now living in a country where both parties did their backroom deals with minorities being nothing more than pawns in the process. It's interesting that it was perfectly fine for Senate Republicans to work with and even concede to Senate Democrats when the latter was filled with rabid racists and segregationists committed to maintaining that way of life, but now that minorities are becoming senators and they are taxpaying constituents whose interests are just as valid as those of White citizens, compromise and working across the aisle are dirty, nasty concepts that should be totally shunned.

Sorry but we're never going back to that place as a country and will be all the better for it. Give me our current political polarization and all the good and bad that comes with it over an era where the possibility of me being killed just for voting was very real.

It wasn't that long ago that it was South Carolina southern, which is becoming more Florida southern than anything oddly enough.

You can't lump immigrants as Democrats. They are all different and have different backgrounds. Many of them are pro-business, but they can be turned off by politicians and constituents who play up the anti-immigrant crap. Most of the small businesses in NoVa are owned by immigrants. Covid has hit them hard since they're not the large national chains.

Then you get dragged off the plane
I'm guessing you have no idea what the "T" in TSA stands for...... It's the Transportation Security Administration. So, yea they also have the same access and can do the same thing for trains, cruise lines, ferrys, and any other type of public transportation systems.
