If you were given a choice to live in a place with dry heat such as Phoenix or humid heat such as New Orland or Orlando, which are you more comfortable in?
I lived in Biloxi, Mississippi for a while in the 70's. The humidity was oppressive. Virtually every day, it would cloud over and rain in the late afternoon, but it never seemed to cool off. Oregon is very nice in comparison.
If I had to choose, it would be Phoenix, but I don't like dry heat much either.
Given I was born in New Orleans Louisiana, I have an innate preference for the humid heat. Not many areas in America are as oppressively humid during summer as Louisiana and the Gulf coast.
I prefer dry, but neither of these locales would be high on my potential relo list.
New Orleans is way too humid. Highs in the 80s with dew points in the 70s and 80s combine to produce heat index values well above 90. That's just god awful.
Phoenix is too hot for too long. You're talking about a city that averages what most of the rest of the country would view as summertime high temps (80 or above) for 7-8 months out of the year, dog days of summer type heat (90 or above) for just under 6 months, and stupid hot highs (above 100) for 3.5 months. For me that's a non-starter.
