This just goes to show that positive things happen to those who persevere. He could have chose to sit at home on CD and complain about how horrible his life is, his job, etc.... But instead he just got out and did what he knew had to be done. It paid off for the guy in dividends. I have a lot of respect for someone like that. No excuses, just willpower.
Yeah, and nobody donated anything to my mom's Gofundme campaign for her cancer.
The guy is an idiot when he doesn't buy a cheap $150 craigslist bike to get to work.
I'm sorry about your mother. However, this guy couldnt afford a $150 bike. I think he deserves every penny that's donated -- he got a free car from a local car dealership and his GoFundMe account has received almost $300,000.00.
I'm one of those guys too that would've said "just get a bicycle".
But, if random strangers got wind of his day-to-day life and wanted to chip in, ain't nothing wrong with any of that.
If anything, this guy gained much perception from being out in the open during his work commute.
No doubt he'll be a Road King, as opposed to the many road-drama-Queens we got putzing about now!!
It's great that he has a new vehicle, but can he even use it?
Does this guy have a driver license now? If I was walking everywhere for 10 years, it would be intimidating to get behind a 2-ton hunk of metal again.
He's been without a vehicle for 10 years -- one decade. And, if his license has expired, I'm sure that, with his perseverance, he can pass the driver's test again.
I'm really surprised to see so many haters here, especially the person who left me a nasty message in an anonymous "rep". Are so many people jealous of his good fortune, after so many years of hardship?

Where did I say that I hate him? Reread the post and find it.
On the surface its a nice story. I hate to be cynical, but something does not add up here. If true, this man is a glutton for punishment because there are so many ways he could have handled this situation better over the last 10 years.
I so totally agree with those who said get a bike, or other, better ways. There are just a bunch of large holes in all this.
But aside from all that, I say where are the donations to the millions of people who have to do this everyday in third world countries? This really isn't very uncommon but we here in the US applaud this guy for continuing to go to work, which isn't really something to give him money for doing.
