When someone is presenting something, I've seen "Wallah" instead of "Voila!"
Thanks for the "wallah" explanation. I hadn't been able to figure that one out and I've read it a number of times. One that I did figure out finally was the use of "yanno" for "you know?" Presumably a misunderstanding of how 'ya know? is spelled.
I just read a post about taking something out to see!
If you want a good laugh, go to the employment forum. Check out all of the threads about no one hiring and you'll notice the complaints are mostly by those whom cannot write a decent sentence.
Then there's always people laboring over contractions!
I've been laboring over this one.
There's a contraction for 'there is'. People is plural (unless prefaced by an A and possibly by context)
There is no contraction for 'there are'.
"There are always people..." would be correct.
Does having 'always' in there change that? If so, please tell how, as I can't summon up any pertinent rule.

I said this a month ago - during the World Series. Love my Red Sox!

Now I feel sad that you didn't do this in October when I posted the same info.
Besides, only Red Sox fans would be calling out "Jacoby" at any ballpark.
Now that is a good plausible story, however it's not the real baseball story. The World Series is happening this week and the Boston Red Sox have a player named Jacoby Ellsbury and everyone loves him. She is really hearing "Jacoby". My own mishearing is from a Mario race game I play with my son. I hear, "It's a pickle." Mario actually says, "Let's go!"
There it is! Did not read this before, but I have to give tulani props.
But alas, this conversation happened way before anybody but his mother ever heard of this guy.
Had a little experience with a local Nissan dealership...went through some" rig or more row"
(Note: I first posted this gem in the, "I can't take it anymore", thread, but I think that this thread is more appropriate, hence the double posting.)
