It's actually the "Carissa" not "Clarissa"... my cousin's named Carissa and she's got lots of pics of herself in front of this mine. She used to live in Lander.

Yep--I knew that. I "think" Carissa and my fingers want to type Clarissa. I realized my typo too late and couldn't go back and edit it--same with the link at Flickr. If I go back and edit it, it's recognized in Lightroom (which I use to publish photos)--and then it comes up as a broken link.

I've been by it many times--in fact I just walked in the door from a couple of days of prospecting in the area.

I was wondering if you edit your shots with different filters? My Nikon coolpix takes decent photos, but I've noticed I could edit some of them to make them really pop.

I shoot with a Canon DSLR and in the RAW file format. By necessity you have to edit them because RAW is naturally a bit...muddy. I have to edit some things like contrast, saturation a bit, and highlights and shadows. I also sometimes shoot HDR's--but regardless of my technique, I try to make them all look as close to what it really looked like as I can remember.

OMG these are such beautiful pictures. I enjoy the landscape ones especially. I am debating a move to wyoming and am hoping to go visit sometime soon. These really give a nice view.
