Description: This is a great place to kick back, relax, and enjoy the Florida-funky atmosphere, the varied clientele, and great food. Surfboards and signs, stuffed fish and nautical artifacts, a longboat . . . pretty much anything sea-related that can be hung or displayed is hanging or displaying here. Owner Kim Garnsey has filled the place with things from new friends, old friends, and long-lost friends. The food is a treat. Hurricane Alley’s famous for its seafood bisque, which started with a lot of experimenting and finished as a local legend, with bay shrimp, crab, and clams. (You can also get it in The Volcano, and oversized bread bowl.) The oysters Rockefeller’s a great appetizer. The tropical wave is a thinly sliced tuna steak, seared with sesame seeds, tossed over a bed of greens with an Oriental dressing. The Asian calamari salad also has an infusion of sesame seeds and a Pan-Asian dressing. Don’t forget to try a basket of conch fritters, fried to a crispy brown with a semihot seasoning, fries, and cole slaw. There’s stuffed sole, several kinds of sushi, and clams, oysters, and shrimp. For dessert, most folks go with the key lime pie or some ice cream.
