Description: As with most other local bed-and-breakfasts, this one is located in the countryside—yet it’s also just a short drive from Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino and Adventureland Amusement Park. The “vineyard” in the name is authentic—there is a working vineyard on-site, which produces grapes for Iowa’s burgeoning wine industry. Nearby is a pond, and the property also has row crops of corn and soybeans, as well as several acres of forest popular for strolls. The 2 rooms are spare but comfortable, with a queen bed in each. One room has a Jacuzzi, while the other has a DVD player. Both rooms have a television and Internet access, as well as private baths, with robes provided for guests. A full breakfast is included, and for a special treat, one of the owners, who hails from Spain, can fix you paella or another classic Spanish dish—notify well in advance if you’d like to do this. The owners are also horse enthusiasts, and they offer a “horse motel” for $28.50 per night, which includes fresh water, hay and grain, and access to an outdoor corral.
