Description: Located on the north side of Indianapolis, Nora is bounded by Meridian Street on the west, Castleton on the east, Ravenswood on the south, and 96th Street on the north. Home to North Central High School, Nora got its name back in the 1870s when Swedish immigrant Peter Lawson was appointed postmaster there. Lawson named the community after his home parish in Sweden. He also opened a grocery store with the post office and that is where the young community began to grow. The residential area of Nora features ranch homes and traditional-style brick homes.

Description: In Marion County, dogs and cats must be given shots on an annual basis. Marion county code requires that dogs and cats wear a permanent means of identification at all times, either a collar with owner’s name, address, and phone number or an implanted microchip with a registered identification number. Both the Humane Society and Indianapolis Animal Care & Control can provide this service. Cats and dogs must be kept under control—leashed if off their property; otherwise restrained by fence or wall.
