Description: Baton Rouge Community College is an open-admissions two-year institution offering academic programs that prepare students for transfer to four-year institutions. Students can acquire associate degrees in such subjects as computer information science, criminal justice, general studies, liberal arts, and nursing. Certificate programs enable students to renew or establish employable skills that allow them to enter the workforce. The college accepts graduates of a state-approved high school, individuals who have obtained the General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or individuals who are 18 or older. High school students who are at least 16 may be admitted through concurrent enrollment, which allows them to register for a maximum of two college courses simultaneously with their high school courses. The college is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
