Address: 7521 Jefferson Hwy

Description: Locally owned, this restaurant gets its name from Rick’s Cafe, the setting for much of the action in the 1942 Humphrey Bogart movie Casablanca. Don’t be fooled—the cuisine is far from exotic. It’s American with a nod to Louisiana tastes. Try the pecan-crusted chicken salad with pecan-crusted grilled chicken over a bed of romaine lettuce, mandarin oranges, and almonds. The shrimp New Orleans features two shrimp stuffed with crab and wrapped in a thin catfish fillet, deep fried and topped with a brandy tarragon sauce. The restaurant also has a “create your own pasta dish” feature that allows patrons to choose various combinations of five meats, three pastas, and 10 vegetables. It’s a vegetarian’s dream dish. Open 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
