Description: Purple and gold are the main colors in and around LSU, especially on game days. Fall Saturdays turn the campus into one of the most renowned environments in college football. Tiger Stadium is an intimidating facility on the west side of the campus. With some 92,000 fans filling every possible seat, it’s no wonder that the stadium is nicknamed Death Valley. Get to the stadium early for pregame festivities, including the entrance of mascot Mike the Tiger in his specially escorted traveling cage. There’s a brief security check. Alcohol, weapons, and umbrellas are not allowed in the stadium. The Maravich Center, named after LSU’s famed basketball star Pete Maravich, seats up to 13,250 fans. LSU has often produced premier players—Bob Petit, Maravich, and Shaquille O’Neal all made the NBA’s 50th anniversary all-time team. When the men’s basketball team clinched its 10th SEC title in 2009, it achieved a unique honor. LSU became the first school to win double-digit SEC championships in football, baseball, and men’s basketball. The Maravich Center, nicknamed The Dome, is also home to women’s basketball, gymnastics, and volleyball. The facility, with comfortable purple-and-gold seats, also serves as a venue for traveling concerts, shows, and major local events. Alex Box Stadium, the new state-of-the-art baseball field, opened in 2009 to cheers and a big crowd. From LSU’s first SEC title in 1939 to the 2009 championship at the College World Series, the LSU Tigers have continued to chalk up great moments. Replacing the former historic Alex Box, the stadium features natural grass, a 10-foot fence, and suites.Bernie Moore Track and Field Stadium, which seats 5,680 fans, features an exceptional all-weather track. The field has played host to numerous elite track and field competitions. Located just north of the field is the Carl Maddox Field House, designed for indoor track and field events. Just beyond the field house, the Natatorium has a 50-meter pool and championship diving pool. It seats 2,200 spectators. Not to be undone, the W.T. “Dub” Tennis Stadium is home to men’s and women’s tennis. The facility, nicknamed The Dub, has six varsity courts and six practice courts. Viewing stands can seat 550 fans.Additional LSU sports facilities include the Soccer Complex, with hybrid Bermuda grass and seating for 1,500 spectators, and the new Tiger Park, home of LSU softball, which has 587 chair-back seats. All fans, regardless of age, need a ticket to enter Tiger Stadium for all football games. For all other sporting events, fans age three and above need a ticket. The Main Ticket Office is on the first floor of the Athletic Administration Building. A photo ID is required to pick up tickets. The PMAC Ticket Office is on the south side of the Maravich Assembly Center on the upper level and is open 90 minutes before the event. The Alex Box Ticket Office is on the southwest corner of Alex Box Stadium behind home plate and is open two hours before the event.
