Description: This is the major care facility of the Willis–Knighton (WK) Health System. Conveniently located west of downtown Shreveport just off I-20, the campus includes many additional facilities that complement the Medical Center itself, which has more than 400 beds. The center has recently installed the da Vinci robotic surgical system, allowing for minimally invasive operations. The Steen-Hall Eye Institute, which is a joint venture with Willis–Knighton, provides custom laser vision correction, LASIK, cataract surgery, and intraocular lens implants, including multifocal and accommodating implants and was the first center in the region to offer an outpatient surgery department.Willis–Knighton Cancer Center provides advanced diagnostic and treatment procedures for all types of cancer, making it one of the region’s most progressive health-care institutions while WK’s Progressive Care Center operates as a long-term nursing center known for its excellent facilities and staff. WK Work Kare has worked with more than 3,700 companies, both large and small, to improve the health and well-being of their employees. With four locations, it offers comprehensive, cost-effective occupational health services tailored to the individual needs of each employer with the goal of decreasing health costs by decreasing lost work time and promoting good health practices among employees. A Fitness and Wellness Center, with both quality equipment and staff, is ready to provide you a medical assessment and design an exercise and nutritional program to keep you healthy and in shape, even after major surgery. The Spine Institute, in association with the LSU Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in Shreveport, functions as both an assessment and treatment center that uses state-of-art technology and clinically proven approaches to eliminate debilitating back pain, usually without the need of surgery. The Center for Fertility and Reproductive Health, which has been in operation for 10 years, has the expertise, staff, and technology to work with people experiencing frustration with issues of conception and gestation. Finally, the WK/LSUHSC Regional Transplant Center has received the designation Center of Excellence by the Department of Health and Human Services for its liver transplant program, recognizing it as one of the best in the nation. Kidney and pancreas transplants and complex hepatobiliary problems are also addressed by a team of nationally recognized experts.
