Description: When Craig and Jeff Glazer—along with comic David Naster—opened a comedy shop above dad Stanford Glazer’s restaurant in 1979, it catapulted the Westport neighborhood into the city’s nightspot scene. When Craig convinced Robin Williams to try out new material here in 1981, Variety picked up the story and the rest is history. After a brief stint in Overland Park, Craig built a 6,000-square-foot, half-million-dollar club in Wyandotte County’s mega-successful Village West near the Kansas Speedway. With 300 fixed seats and three levels of plush seating, the club has attracted celebrity and up-and-coming comics. You’ll recognize names from TV shows such as Last Comic Standing and movie roles. If you think you have a shot at stardom, bring three minutes of material to open-mic night every Tuesday.
