Description: What do you call a more upscale version of a string of bars called the Peanut? The Cashew, of course. And while the Peanut (5000 Main St., 816-753-9499, plus five other locations) is known for hot wings, the world’s best BLTs, and peanut shells on the wooden floor, this more refined legume serves cashews in a bowl. On balmy nights you’ll see urban professionals and a few artists from nearby studios hanging out over beers and martinis when the garage doors are up and the view of downtown is spectacular. So’s the red sangria and the Cashew “3” Martini, made with soy vodka. It’s a cool place to start the gallery stroll through the Crossroads Arts District on First Fridays. Or come for the live music Mon through Wed. The Cashew also rents out its second floor for private parties. Or have a really small private party in the photo booth tucked in a corner.
