Description: No one would blame executive chef Jennifer Maloney if she skimped on food presentation; her restaurant’s location within the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art should be visual stimulus enough. Diners are surrounded by artwork; in fact in the main room every square inch of wall space is covered in paintings. But Jennifer’s menu is more than up to the challenge. Salads—such as the ode to autumn, with seasonal greens, smoked Gouda, turkey, pears, honey-baked pecans, and curry-mustard dressing—are works of art. The foie gras–stuffed quail and risotto are simply dreamy, the roasted beef tenderloin with turnip-and-fig gratin divine. And for some fans, the meal isn’t over until they’ve polished off a wedge of chocolate budino, a decadent flourless torte served with fresh fruit and whipped cream. Lunch is served Tues through Sat, and dinner is available Fri and Sat with a Sunday brunch.
