Description: Belas Artes is a combination gallery and multicultural center in one charming space. The gallery features a variety of works by international artists and celebrates myriad ethnicities and cultures. There are four “themed” rooms—African-Latino, Middle Eastern, European–North American, and ZenAsian—and the center hosts a number of activities and special events, including art fairs, music and dance classes, and themed evenings that feature ethnic foods combined with music, movies, and art exhibitions.

Description: In French, componere means to gather together, as in small mosaics of an artistic whole. This gallery features artwork with a contemporary urban look along with a sense of humor and has special monthly exhibits of regional works. One hundred fifty regional artists are represented with original works and limited-edition Iris prints. St. Louis city and rural scenes are represented in watercolor, oil, photography, collographs, and monotypes. Componere is locally known for its large inventory of affordable jewelry, creative blown glass, lovely functional and raku ceramics, as well as clay sculptures and carved wood.

Each gallery sticks with its overall theme, and past exhibits have included everything from Linda McCartney’s rock-star photos to the history of the automobile’s role in suburbia. The Bellwether Gallery features St. Louis artists, and the History of Jazz Galleries always spotlights jazz musicians or events.
