The school provides a liberal education for its 1,600 students—one that develops the intellect, body, spirit, and character. Three divisions make up the school: Lower School (junior kindergarten through grade 4), Middle School (grades 5 through 8), and Upper School (grades 9 through 12). There is an International Baccalaureate program, as well as an extensive international exchange program. Since 1992 more than 700 students have participated in study-abroad programs, and over 450 school families have hosted a foreign student. Around 100 students from 30 different countries are enrolled in classes on the south Charlotte campus. The school is technologically advanced, with 700 computers in use and high-speed Internet access in all classrooms, computer labs, and libraries. Country Day also has an outstanding arts program, encompassing music, dance, drama, chorus, and the visual arts. Athletic programs via 64 sports teams draw an approximately 90 percent participation rate in organized athletics. Service projects are also a part of school life. Small classes, dedicated teachers, and individualized instruction in all classes allow every child to experience success. An independent, nonsectarian, coeducational school, Charlotte Country Day welcomes students regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, or religion.
