Insider Pick:

Description: Sometimes it’s the simple things that are the best, and, in this case, simplicity is king. The two giant metal slides sitting in a sunken area of downtown Omaha’s Gene Leahy Mall have been the source of fun for kids of all ages for 30 years or more. Two metal slides, side by side, offer kids of all ages hours of fun, especially in warmer months. Steps on each side lead to the top of the slides, and kids land in a giant sand pit at the base. Discarded paper bags and pieces of wax paper—to add speed to a downward, bumpy ride—lay around the base of the slide, and kids can either bring their own or recycle someone else’s piece. Either way, hours of free fun will prevail.
