Description: The Reno Stead Airport is a general aviation airport located 9 miles north of downtown Reno off US 395. The airport has two asphalt runways (8,080 feet and 7,600 feet), lights, hangars, and full services. The airport’s tower is not staffed and has a UNICOM frequency of 122.7. Pilots are not charged landing fees. You can buy Jet A and 100 LL (lowlead) fuel from General Aviation Classics and rent tie-down space. Call (775) 972-5540 for information. The Nevada Army National Guard has a facility located about 1 mile from the airport out of which military helicopter activities are conducted. Reno Stead Airport is also home to the annual National Championship Air Races in September, closing the airport to all general aviation aircraft (see the Annual Events chapter for details about the Reno Air Races).
