Description: RTC Ride, the public transit service for the area, operates 30 fixed routes in Reno and Sparks. Routes originate at the Citicenter Transit Center in downtown Reno and the new RTC Centennial Plaza in downtown Sparks. Buses travel outbound from these two hubs and go to outlying neighborhoods. The buses run seven days per week from about 4:30 a.m. to midnight, though some routes run 24 hours. Bus fare is $2 for a one-way ticket. Seniors older than age 60, disabled people, and Medicare recipients pay $1. Youths between the ages of 5 and 18 ride the bus for $1.25. Children younger than age 5 ride free. RTC Ride does not charge for transfers, which are valid for one hour after bus ticket purchase. Frequent passengers may purchase daily, weekly, and monthly passes, which are good for unlimited riding. Fares for a Daily Pass are: adult, $5; youth, $3; senior/disabled/Medicare, $2.50. For a 7-Day Pass it’s adult, $21; youth, $13; senior/disabled/Medicare, $10.50. For a Monthly Pass, costs are: adult, $70; youth, $44; senior, $35; disabled/Medicare, $26. RTC Ride also offers RTC Access, a service by which disabled people may be picked up at their homes and taken to their destinations. The base fare ranges from $1.75 to $3.50 for a one-way prescheduled trip.
