Description: With an 18-foot waterfall as the centerpiece of its contemporary decor, Cafe de Thai offers an unadorned oasis for your dining pleasure. The concrete floors and simple wood/chrome furnishings may seem overly stark at first, but once you’ve begun eating they become the appropriate background for the spicy, somewhat complex cuisine. The food here is easily some of the best you’ll find in the Reno/Tahoe area. The outdoor patio is very popular in summer, and the separate bar area offers a welcome retreat if you’re waiting for a table. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday for lunch and dinner and for dinner only on Sunday. One note of warning: The restaurant may be tricky to find, especially after dark, because its exterior signage is not obvious. To make it easier, look for a geometric concrete structure with splashes of pumpkin about 1 block east of South Virginia Street.
