This chapter lists hotels and motels on the entire Oregon Coast organized by region—North, Central, and South—and then by city from north to south. These accommodations range from simple to extravagant. You’ll find anything from a deluxe suite with an ocean view to a simple bungalow that is perfect for families. We’ve included price codes that will give you an idea of what you can expect to pay for two people for one night during the summer season. Winter season rates are usually discounted along the Oregon Coast. Hotels and motels accept all or most major credit cards unless otherwise noted. Some counties tax hotel rooms.
Accommodations - Bed-And-Breakfast Inns
In this chapter you’ll find bed-and-breakfast inns that range from turn-of-the-century houses filled with beautiful antiques to contemporary inns. The possibilities are endless—you can stay in a chateau in a private suite or you can stay in a stateroom aboard a paddleboat. You’ll have the luxury of enjoying the privacy of your own room as well as the opportunity to visit with other guests and exchange stories with the innkeepers. The innkeepers we interviewed were happy to share their stories with us as well as their love of what they do. Their common goal is to make you feel at home and give you a chance to relax and enjoy the scenic beauty of the magnificent coast.
When you stay in a bed-and-breakfast, you’ll always receive a home-cooked breakfast made from fresh local ingredients, which usually includes a main entree such as fresh crab omelets, applesauce pancakes, or fluffy French toast, accompanied by homemade breads and jam, fresh fruit, and gourmet coffee, juice, or tea. Some innkeepers serve you breakfast in your room and some in the dining area at a specified time in the morning. It’s always a good idea to find out when and where breakfast is served so you don’t miss out!
We’ve organized the bed-and-breakfasts by region—North, Central, and South—and then by city from north to south. In each of the listings you’ll find the name and address, price code, phone, Web site, restrictions, a detailed description of the bed-and-breakfast itself—including what’s for breakfast—and other things to see and do in the area. If a bed-and-breakfast doesn’t accept major credit cards, we’ve indicated that. Keep in mind that most bed-and-breakfasts do not allow smoking or pets and many allow children only with prior approval.

Description: You will enjoy the luxury of this waterfront hotel located in the heart of downtown Astoria. The rooms at this hotel have private balconies overlooking the Columbia River, fireplaces, hardwood floors, and high-speed Internet. As part of your stay, you will also receive a complimentary breakfast, complimentary wine and lox from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily, and the use of a chauffeured 1939 Buick. This hotel also offers a full day spa, gift boutique, hot tub, exercise room, library, laundry facilities, and complimentary day use bicycles. Your furry friend can also bask in the luxury of this hotel with pet-friendly rooms. For an additional pet fee, your dog will receive a dog bed, treats, bottled water, complimentary leashes, and waste bags. Also note that this hotel is smoke free.

Description: The Crest Motel sits on two-and-a-half manicured acres above the city; its views of the Columbia River are magnificent, and its location, away from downtown, makes it a relatively quiet place to stay. It’s also pleasant, with patio chairs outside in the back overlooking the river and a covered Jacuzzi among its many amenities. Other amenities include a continental breakfast, coin laundry facilities, phones, and cable television. One building is dedicated to those who don’t smoke. It’s okay to bring the dog.
3. Hotel Elliott

Description: Built in 1924, the historic Hotel Elliott features 32 unique rooms that are all non-smoking and have all been updated with modern amenities. The rooms feature heated stone floors in each bathroom, some rooms have romantic marble fireplaces, free cable Internet, free TV and DVD players, terry robes, cedar closets, high end beds with goose down pillows, custom cabinetry, and wheelchair accessiblility. This classic hotel also offers two, pet-friendly rooms. This hotel has a spectacular roof top terrace that has magnificent views of the Columbia River and Astoria’s historic downtown district.

7. Edgewater Inn

Description: The Edgewater allows you to step out the front door, walk down the path, and find yourself in the middle of the Prom, the beloved walkway that fronts the beach at Seaside. A brief walk to the north will put you in the middle of the tourist district; one straight ahead will put you on the beach. But the Edgewater itself manages to convey a get-away-from-it-all feel. Maybe because it’s a small hotel of 15 rooms that dare you to relax. All the rooms come with a Jacuzzi tub, a fireplace, a full kitchen, television and VCR/DVD player, sleeping room for four, and great views. There are also a few cottages; these have the same furnishings.

Description: Just five units, the Argonauta Inn is an oasis amid a downtown Cannon Beach that can get pretty feverish on a summer afternoon. Each of these lovely, well-furnished units comes with fireplace and kitchen. The units, which are separate buildings, range in size. The largest, Beach House, is good for the family reunion—it can sleep 10, and a large stone fireplace provides incentive to get people off the beach for dinner. The usual modern amenities apply—phones, televisions—and a spa pool is also available. Pets are not allowed.

Description: Nothing could be as inviting as the 10 smoke-free Cape Cod style cottages of the McBee Motel. The cottages have inviting, cozy furnishings and most have fireplaces and kitchens. The cottages are located only a block from the beach and are pet friendly.

Description: The Schooner’s Cove is one of a number of Cannon Beach hotels that manage to be at once upscale and down home. Here, you can relax on the front lawn of the cedar-shake hotel while you use the barbecue and watch the beachcombers, or if you don’t feel like cooking, watch them from the spa, which faces the ocean. The 30 rooms each have deck, fireplace, and view, DVD players, free wireless Internet, and HBO. The suites have kitchens, too. You can also reserve a time to soak in the oceanfront spa and watch the surf. There is good coffee, laundry facilities for everyone, but no smoking or pets.
