Description: Organized in 1828, First United Methodist is on the National Register of Historic Places and on the Register of United Methodist Historic Sites. The original church, now home to the Hut Bible Class, was built in 1844 and was replaced by a Gothic building in 1898. The mission-style church, now a fellowship hall, was built in 1910. The present Georgian-style sanctuary was built in 1961. Of special interest is the cemetery, with graves dating from the 1830s.

Description: Housed within a beautifully renovated historic building on Main Street in downtown Conway, the Theatre of the Republic (TOR) has been entertaining Grand Strand audiences for more than 30 years. TOR is a nonprofit amateur theater group with a history of providing high-quality, affordable theater for the community. In addition to four main season shows, TOR produces musical revues, holiday shows, and children’s theater productions and presents classic works through the Theatre of the Republic Repertory Group. Theatre of the Republic was named the Official Theatre of Horry County in 1975. For schedule information please call the Theatre of the Republic office Mon through Fri from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Description: The Horry County Museum offers numerous exhibits on the history, prehistory, and natural history of Horry (pronounced oh-ree) County at the museum’s main location, as well as through the presentation of outreach exhibits and programs in various locations throughout the county. The majority of the museum’s collections are stored at the Main Street location and include a highly acclaimed photographic collection as well as hundreds of historic artifacts documenting the unique history and culture of Horry County. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
