Description: The speedway is NASCAR sanctioned and hosts the Whelen All-American Series. It’s a short track, less than 4/10 of a mile, and one of the flattest, with a maximum of just 6 degrees of banking in the corners, so it takes skill to navigate. The track opened in 1950 and currently operates the NASCAR divisions on Sat nights; Hampton Roads Kart Club races on Sun; and Wild and Wacky Wednesday races for anyone with a helmet and a street-legal car to compete. The big event is the Hampton Heat 200, a 200-lap race for the Crossroads Fuel Late Model Stock Car Division with a break at the 100-lap point to allow fueling, make setup changes, and rotate tires.
