Dinosaurs of Spanishtown

Just before reaching downtown Half Moon Bay, travelers will pass through Spanishtown, a place many local artists call home. Located at 501 San Mateo Road, Half Moon Bay, CA. Spanishtown is just off the highway and features about a dozen gigantic metal sculptures of dinosaurs.

Though the dinosaurs are rusted, they are still in good condition and make a lasting impression on travelers. At Spanishtown, visitors can find a fairly large collection of pottery items, garden sculptures, and many other hand-crafted goods.

Continuing on to Half Moon Bay, visitors have a myriad of sites and activities to indulge in. Some specific points of interest include: the James Johnston House, a saltbox-style home; the Graveyard Hill Cemetery, the Half Moon Bay Jail, the Half Moon Bay Bakery and Angelo Boitano's General Merchandise Store and Saloon, which has been in operation since 1873.

In addition to the sites, the city offers many outdoor activities: beaches, water sports, surfing, fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, whale watching and golf.

For those interested in more urban fair: wine tasting, art galleries, antiques and collectibles, farmer markets, festivals and other entertainments are available.

Half Moon Bay is located 30 miles south of San Francisco off of Pacific Coast Highway.
