City: Kennebunk, ME
Category: Tours & Attractions
Telephone: (207) 985-4802
Address: 117 Main St.

Description: Four pretty old commercial buildings—basically one block in downtown Kennebunk—serve as the headquarters for this local institution. The collections here are a mixed bunch, showcasing the history of the Kennebunks. The museum dates back to 1936, and it’s known for its decorative arts but also for maritime artifacts, and even exhibits about the Bush family, who have summered for ages in Kennebunkport. Some spaces look like rooms in an old home, others more like museum galleries. Nice quilts and shipbuilding tools. The Brick Store hosts rotating exhibitions, educational programs, and walking tours. Open year-round Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donation.
