I've shopped here twice and have been overcharged both times. The first time they charged me tax on my tax exempt grocery items but I didn't realize it until I was home, so I let it go. Last night I went in again and informed the cashier of this before she rang me up to ensure it didn't happen again. She didn't apologize for the error but at least acknowledged their mistake and stated they knew they were charging tax on tax free items because their system wasn't set up to charge correctly. When I got home I noticed I was charged twice for an item I only purchased one of. The amount I was overcharged was 99 cents. This is a tiny sum of money, but I was irritated that I've been overcharged both times I've shopped there. I stopped in today and spoke with the manager. The cashier who rang me up was there and she insisted that I purchased two of these items and I was coming in to lie about the transaction so that I could get 99 cents. Instead of simply admitting she could have made a mistake, she was indignant and said she thought it was funny that I would buy two of these items and then say I only bought one. I informed the manager I thought it was ridiculous how such a simple issue was becoming so big and taking up so much time. The manager seemed to be at a loss as to how to behave in a professional capacity. She never apologized for overcharging me, for her employee's rude behavior for interrupting me, calling me a liar and talking disrespectfully about me in Spanish (she assumed I didn't speak the language based on my appearance apparently) and made this whole situation drag on much longer than necessary. When she finally offered me a store credit, I told her I wanted a refund because I wouldn't shop there ever again. I said, who on earth would take the time to come in and say they were overcharged 99 cents? I'm a grown woman and very well educated, not the kind of person who lies to get 99 cents. The cashier became insolent again and at that point I'd reached the limit of my patience and told the four the workers present this whole time that they should take a look around their store. They never have any customers. When you treat customers terribly they don't come back. Maybe the reason they never have any business is because of this (pointing at teenage cashier who accused me of lying and trying to steal 99 cents). With that I left. This was the most ridiculous customer service situation I've ever experienced. The manager treated it like a he said/she said instead of just don't the right thing. I don't care if that cashier wants to go to her grave thinking I lied to steal 99 cents, you never treat a customer this way. I look forward to the day this store goes out of business. Considering the fact that many items are past their expiration date, their produce section was paltry and many items were moldy, and they treat their very few customers terribly, I doubt it will take long.
