A Miami judge defied a Florida gay adoption ban Tuesday, ruling in favor of a male couple's right to adopt two children they have raised over the past four years, according to local press reports.
Miami Dade Circuit Judge Cindy Lederman said "there is no rational basis to preclude homosexuals from adopting" and rejected as unconstitutional a 1977 Florida state law that prohibits such adoptions, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported on its website.
