I took the RailRunner from downtown at about 4:15 am and was at the Balloon Park by between 5:30 & 6 am last year. That worked really well for me.

We take the train from the 550 station. It leaves about 0515. We were in the park by 0630. We were back home by noon.

Yukon, We haven't thought that far ahead, we've been unpacking PODS!! I think during the week would be the best bet... let me ask Mr Sogs and we'll get back to you. It would be great to hook up and meet some transplants like ourselves. What day were you thinking of going?

_yb, thanks for the tip on the Railrunner - that's probably what we will do too then. Sounds WAY better than driving and its pretty close to our place.

Hey, a different topic - have any of you heard from jrod2828 lately? I thought they were supposed to move in Sept but haven't seen any recent postings from him. I sent him a personal email but haven't heard back.

ahem...after muttering many curse words to myself because I too will be missing fiesta for the second year in a row...I totally agree with EnjoyEP. Get there early, relish every crisp moment, and realize that is probably the only place on earth where hot chocolate pairs perfectly with green chile! Have a wonderful time.

Yeah, but you get to see palm trees gussied up for Christmas. I love that look, and I already know I'll miss it this year when Christmas rolls around. You get to see the Superbowl frenzy. And you'll be able to attend Gasparilla

I'm jealous.

Last year we got free tickets to the Fiesta through work, but had to go on the Friday before it ended. They were calling for gusty winds and a chance of rain, so I guess the huge crowds never showed up. Needless to say, there was absolutely no traffic, or trouble with finding parking.

Well, the winds died down in time for all the balloons to participate in an amazing night glow event. I think if we ever go in the future, we'll look for the day when the weather is marginal, again.

Ha... I'm embarking on a trip to ABQ this weekend (not for the festival - to assess the city as a place to live), and I JUST now bothered to check to see when this festival is.

Figures.

Well, I guess I'll miss the opening, but at least I'll be able to catch some of it... perhaps.
