Um ... er, I was kidding?
You *wanted* to say that anyway though, huh?
I read once that Albuquerque used some 450 million gallons of
water per day back in the late 90's. The system leaked some
10 million gallons of that water.
To put that in perspective, that would fill 28,000 large backyard
swimming pools (the 450M) - that's about once every three
seconds. -- dawgies!
OK. I'm now officially sick of the weather in Kansas! We are planning a relocation to Albuquerque in the next year or so. PLEASE tell me that you don't know the term "wind chill" there! Also, as I look a the threat of an impending ice storm here, can you fill me in on the frequency of icing and/or ice storms there. I don't mind snow or even colder temps. But ice and wind chills factors are something I'd like to leave behind. Thanks!

Unfortunately, wind chill is a word very common in our vocabulary. However, we don't get much moisture, so that means little Ice or ice storms.
Haha just got back to NM from Olathe/Lawrence, and I loved the weather there this weekend. We definitely have wind chill, but ice is relatively rare in the ABQ area. I wouldn't worry much about the weather here, it's nowhere near as erratic as that in Kansas, although people here will try and tell you that. Dry summers are nice when you are coming from the midwest.
Man it's hot! It's a real hassle when it starts getting too hot for jeans by mid-day. The burden of having to keep a pair of shorts to switch in to in case you want to take in an afternoon hike or game or something. I'm going to start turning over soil to get ready to fire up the garden.
This has got to be the driest and warmest winter we have had in some time. I'm enjoying the weather I just wish we could get some moisture.
