When I lived in Ajo we used to drive to Sonoita twice a month to gas up. Pemex is fine gasoline and is a buck lower than U S gas per gallon. I have a bunch of friends who live there and are on the net a lot, whatever they have, works.

This thread is very old, but it seems like the best one to tag onto! I'm looking into Ajo and wanted to get some information, specifically in regards to internet and cell service. I work from home and am looking into a more remote location that's affordable. I've lived in the Southwest and loved it, though I've never lived in a remote location like Ajo.

It looks like the only wired internet service available is through Tabletop Telephone, DSL service. Does anyone use this and do they find it reliable? I don't do anything that requires too much speed, but I do use it all day for work. I do make a fair amount of long distance phone calls as well. That's all included with my cell service, but from what I'm reading cell service is not good in Ajo. Has that changed at all?

I'd appreciate any information in that regard.

Hello. Why don't you start another thread since this one is so old?

I am interested in Ajo as well. I did a little research last year and I was concerned with the lack of hospital close by. Also, I could not find any updated information about the water quality. From what I briefly scanned with a google search, at one time they had some high arsenic levels.

Would love to see a new thread and some input from people who live there. It's definitely worth a visit.

I seriously doubt a new thread would yield any new information. Best to build on this thread. maybe contact the COC for more information.
