Oh my - we loved Lindy's! It was our "fancy" restaurant when we were dating!

I remember as a kid going to the Old Spaghetti Factory on Ponce De Leon Ave. Also there was a fast food version of Olive Garden called Fazoli's all around metro Atlanta I used to enjoy. The last time I went to Fazoli's was a couple years ago up near Chattanooga when I was coming back from Nashville.

That was a great little place. They opened in the 70s when Virginia-Highland was first starting to make its comeback.

You know, Linda Capozolli later opened Lindy's in Peachtree Hills. That was also a great place.
Lindy's had the best strawberry soup I have ever tasted! I considered Lindy's to be my introduction to fine dining. Linda passed away several years ago. She and my first wife were tennis buddies and Linda's husband, Roger, and I were terrific friends. Good folks.

Very cool history, Ansley. I didn't even know there were things such as strawberry soup until places like Lindy's came along!

Sitting in front of the pc on New Year's eve, thinking back over other NYE celebrations. One that stands out would be '71, maybe '72...three of us were trying to get to Riverbend for midnight. I had a friend in a band playing at a clubhouse party. Seems they went by Fred and the Lottery. Coming around 285 on the east side, we drove up on a mess of railing and concrete chunks in the road where 285 comes over Buford Hwy. We pulled over and looked below to Buford Hwy and saw a recently wrecked car still steaming from the radiator. Only one policeman present at that point. The car had taken out the entire outside rail and went over on its top down below. We later found out 4 or 5 teenagers had been running from police, maybe from Lilburn, when the crash occurred. Sadly, all were killed. We made Riverbend but it put a tragic pall on the night.

I remember that accident happening as well....I had just gotten my license right about that time and had a very fast 72 SS Chevelle and after hearing about the accident and how bad it was, it made me slow it way down.....My wife’s best friend at the time had an older brother who was a Dekalb County Police Officer who was one of the first officers to get there that night and it really shook him up having to see what was left after that crash.....After that he would pull me over if he ever saw my car in Brookhaven or Chamblee just to scare me to death and make sure I was behaving.......To this day every time I cross over Buford Highway on 285 I think about those kids.....

Too many pages to check so I'll just throw these out. Anybody remember the bowling alley at Lenox Square (at the rear, next to the theater)? And do you remember that theater showed "Midnight Cowboy" - when it was "X" rated?

Hello! My name is Ricki, my mom is Linda Beigh and my dad was Roger! He passed away in May 2020 but I thought I’d tell you that my mom is very much alive and well
