Someone, somewhere mentioned penalties for skipping turn 1.. I believe that's said and done. They got 30 second penalties. Chastain and.. ..... But, a worthwhile gamble for Chastain. Car isn't torn up, I believe he TECHNICALLY followed the rules and could argue it a bit.. .....
I'm really surprised that trackhouse isn't appealing the penalty. As you said, Chastain TECHNICALLY followed the rules, so how does he get penalized for that?? And if it really was a spare-of-the-moment decision because he was going to wreck in Turn 1, braking data from his car would show that to back up his claim.

Two things:
1. They penalized Briscoe last year for a lesser infraction of going through the grass.
2. Bubba went through the grass after being forced out. NASCAR made him give up the single position he gained.
If they go back to the road course again, they need to put barriers in the grass and make going around a serpentine that causes the cars to almost stop.

Well if anything those last laps with the 1 and 8 battling it out was some of the most exciting laps of the day.
Then you're right. AND to clear it up even more.. the third winner would have to be some combination of Harvick, Almirola, Jones, Truex and Blaney.
Three of THOSE five would have to win to knock him out. That's a tall order.
He's got basically a full race over Wallace and Dillon. So, if he misses another race, perhaps they come into the equation. ~2 race lead over Haley and Buescher.
Daytona is obviously the wildcard. Anyone can win there. The person who should be shaking in their boots right now is Truex.. Because if ANYONE new wins and he doesn't, he's out. That's a significantly shorter order to fill.
Blaney can't be too comfortable, either. But he's not in as bad a spot as Truex. He's got 25 points on Truex.. But.. Hell.. Can you imagine the person 2nd in points misses the playoffs? Rules change would probably be incoming.

I agree, and just don't understand what's happened to Marty. Seems like the wheels simply fell off his team. He went from being a threat to win, any time he was on the track, to lucky if he finishes 10th.....
If you can't make it to North Wilksboro later this month, you can watch it on PPV. Proceeds will go towards improvements at the track. Tickets are very reasonable starting at $16! I would go if I could. That #3 SunDrop car looks very retro and cool.

2nd in points with out winning a race...
What other sport can you even make it to the playoffs with out winning. Just sayin.

How many other sports are you competing against ~37 other teams for 1 win every week?
TECHNICALLY.. The NFL.. This could happen. Every team goes 0-0-17. not exactly likely to happen.
