I just pulled this off the web for WestJet in Canada, I dunno what it really means:
Although I must say, when I flew with them, they all seemed genuinly happy. Maybe its cause they are "owners" in company with shares and whatnot.
Im assuming that's in Canadian dollars. Also, notice the 960 hours bit. Someone may look at that and think 'oh hey, that's not much. I work twice that in a year.' But it's misleading because they do work so much more than that, it's just that the hours they actually get paid for are much fewer than a normal job. It's a shame how much crewmembers, both flight and cabin, work for free.
What about working for Amtrak instead? A recent hire sat and went through what she'd be making, and with overtime it was about 60k I believe, with lots of OT, of course. Very few hires compared to applicants of course.

I think its a bigger shame when pilots who are starting out in regional airlines who make around 20k. lives are at their hands and they have to pay for their own crash pads, lack of sleep, on top of their student loans.
3 of my cousins are flight attendants (well, technically only 2 now since one of them recently left the industry to start a family) back in Australia and although they get paid more than flight attendants over here in the U.S. it's still a below average wage by Australian standards. As others have also said, it's also a thankless job. I had contemplated it when I was in my late teens but ultimately decided against it. It's definitely not as glamorous as it used to be half a century ago.

No argument from me. I've lived that experience myself.

Lived it myself as well! Lovely time! With regards to the FA outfits, I'm actually partial to the attire the gojet girls got to wear...I can remember seeing them in the airport with the short skirts, high healed boots, etc...for some reason, my company was totally against that dress code policy...go figure!

That's true but you also can top 100k
