It's early. Melancon remains likely to have a better season than either Casilla or Romo. That said, he's not really a lights-out guy either.
As for the regular season, I find it a poor substitute for March ball when you can watch four or five TV games a day with not a one of them being ruined by some mindless network announcer. Spring Training rocks.
Chase Headley now has four hits slapped or bunted away from the shift. And game 2 isn't even over. For the love of basic common sense, stop shifting against him!
The Cardinals' Stephen Piscotty scored a run the hard way.
While at the plate he was hit on the right elbow.
He stole second and the throw hit him on the left elbow.
While attempting to score on a ground ball, the throw from the second baseman hit him in the head.
The A's took a two run lead into the 9th last night against the Angels, but the reliever sent into close wasn't up to snuff and gave up a three run bomb to lose it. That reliever has one of the most unfortunate names in baseball....Ryan Dull. It is disconcerting to watch him from the centerfield camera because what you see is the back of his shirt with:
Dull
66
printed on it.
Or if you are looking at him through a grandstand camera, you see a guy who though 27 years old, looks like 15.
After starting last season 0-9 and never getting close to .500, the Twins have won 2 laugher's against the Royals, but what's interesting is how the Twins have won. They've scored 16 runs so far in the series, and of their 16 runs, 12 have come in the 7th inning (6 each in the first 2 games). Of the 12 runs they've scored in the 7th inning 11 have come with 2 outs .
