Then I don’t know how they survived with four starters fouling out. I had four fouls watching that game.
Sampson in tears in the locker room… players in tears… that game was like none other.
It would have been interesting if Sampson stayed at IU. IU was 22-4 when he resigned. Went to the NCAA the year prior and went to the NCAA 11 out of 12 year at Oklahoma. 5 straight sweet 16's at Houston.

Sampson is an underrated coach, even with all the dirt he left behind at IU and Oklahoma. And while the refs did their part to try and hand the game to Texas A&M, Sampson contributed mightily as well. What was that defense in the last 1.3 seconds of regulation? Why even bother guarding the in-bounds passer? Houston just needed to cover the arc with all five players, simple as that.
Sampson should have fouled AM with 1.2 seconds left and put them on the free throw line. AM must have went to the free throw 50 times.
Not at 1.2 sec. - too risky to give a shooting foul with three free throws
Earlier - maybe so...

If the ball is tipped, the clock starts and they wouldn't get a shot off - and it does make the pass in more difficult. That's the theory.
I guess everyone is stunned into silence with two #1 seeds (Houston and UNC) and two #2 seeds biting the dust. Interesting to note that the maligned ACC (an off year supposedly depth wise) has two of the three ACC teams in the Elite 8 that weren't even ranked at the end of the regular season, and a chance for two to reach the Final Four.

Houston likely would have won if Shead didn't get injured in the first half. Houston also lost 3 other players to injury earlier in the season. They had a great year.
UConn with a 30-0 run against Illinois. I have never heard of such a thing.
That's insane domination
