This means that Boston is roughly 420% safer than Chicago
I agree, Boston is much safer than Chicago. Let's keep it this way.

I had forgotten how immune to statistics people are. Someone posts: "murder rates are down" and are immediately met with a post of every single notable crime. It's almost as if people are willfully fear mongering.

Nope. It just shocks me that people here seem to live in this bubble where they think crime doesn't happen in Boston and the surrounding areas. Not fear mongering as chances are anyone living in a decent neighborhood won't be affected but it's good to be aware of what is happening.

Yeah it's really turning this forum into crap. Especially when it's mostly the same people who are not affected by it.

Who? The OP already related that there were 144 total shooting victims and 35 murders. The, "look, there actually are murders" parade of fear-mongering crime posts seems to be willfully misunderstanding the point.

I think this was posted already. Transport worker who was writing someone a ticket for car parking was attacked. Terrible but something's gotta give with parking tickets in this city. They say the person lived nearby (and probably paying a lot in rent or on a mortgage.) it's crap to get parking tickets in your neighborhood. I don't know the situation and obviously no one deserves to be attacked but parking in this city is a nightmare.

The attacker needs to be charged with A/B on a public servant, zealously prosecuted and jailed, that's what needs to happen. The message needs to be zero tolerance for this type of behavior. This isn't a third world country but it will be if this kind of stuff is tolerated. The fact that parking is a pain has nothing to do with it. If you don't like it, move out of the city.

Well I don't live in the city. When I did live in the city I had a house with a driveway as well so i never had to deal with that crap. I just empathize with people who struggle to find parking on a daily basis. Obviously you can't attack the ticket giver but it must be a struggle.
