My friends live right on Austin and Madison. They love it and their neighbors. Tons of small children too. They have lived there for 6 years and have never, ever even been the victim of the garage break in. So not quite Lake and Austin, but Lake and Madison. And I am sure their house is worth more money than most in EP!

Shaddup.

This is the most pointless discussion ever. And that's a very low bar to crawl under.

A relative got mugged in Oak brook mall parking lot in broad daylight. Malls and parking lots anywhere are rife with crime no matter where you go. Be aware and be careful out there, esp. in the dark.

Ok ready? Let us name the date: June 20th. Drover sits at Austin and Lake in a lawn chair for an entire day. He can't leave. He can't have any weapons.

I bet he does not last past noon.

This could be fun.

The good old west side. Austin is terrible, even with its relative convienience to the EL, this area won't gentrify within 20 years, especially with these economic conditions. I've been to Oak Park numerous times and never felt unsafe. Its mind boggling when you're driving on Chicago ave and it changes from Austin to Oak Park, its makes an abrupt change. From trashy, ghetto to nice tree lined streets. Maybe my concept of bad is different. Well, my uncle lives on Madison and Pulaski and that area is horrific! However, there are some new single-family homes being built(shocking). My cousin owns a nice newly built townhome in North Lawndale so there are some pioneers investing in those areas however, its not going to happen on a large scale for a long time.
Ok, i'm done with my long 2 cents!

Sounds like a drug killing to me...probably over BIG money. The fact that the body wasnt even hidden would lead me to believe that whoever did it wanted it to be found to send a message. With that said, I highly doubt it even happened in Oak Park. Probably on the west side somewhere.
