If that's the case, it will reduce the store's operating costs. Think they'll pass the savings on to the customer?? (like the self service check outs.....)

This seems like a feelgood measure. At the same time, the stores can now sell you bags instead of giving them away, and they're free to increase the already ridiculous amount of plastic packaging on all the products they sell. Soon, blueberries will come in double clamshells that are each individually plastic wrapped, with each blueberry in its own package.

The stores have been tasked with significant reporting regulations + wage + fuel, utilities, and transportation, and supply chain increases; let's hope they don't pass their increased costs to consumers.

Remember when these "politicians" said we were killing trees so they demanded we use plastic?

Well, we do a lot of "curbside pickup" from Walmart, and when we heard the news about plastic bags, we bought two heavy-duty plastic egg carton crates from Walmart. Keep both in the vehicle, so when we do a "curbside pickup", will have the person put our ordered items into the two crates. No problem!

We already buy the Hefty 13-gallon trash can liners and use them in our kitchen. But, for the other small trash cans, will either have to use the plastic bags we've saved or buy some bags for those trash cans. Again, not a problem.

As far as "Take Out" meals at restaurants go, if the styrofoam containers go, will simply have to use what they give us.

Sometimes things happen and people have to do whatever they can to replace things that are no longer.

Went to Walmart yesterday and the bags were gone as promised. I forgot about it and didn't bring in the bags from the car. Ended up just loading everything back in the cart and then moved them to the bags at the car, basically Costco style. The people who used to check your receipts were not there, they were at the checkouts selling reusable bags. Seemed kind of strange as walking out with a cart full of things not in bags would have caused a big investigation before yesterday.

This doesn’t just apply to grocery stores. It affects pretty much all retailers, including drive through food orders.
Anyone look up the exemptions?
Anyone on food stamps doesn’t have to pay the fee. Walmart has already gone bagless. I almost guarantee those on the dole are going to be the vocal about not getting their free bags…
Three locations or less are exempt. Really? Why does that matter, I thought this was a serious environmental issue.
And the one the politicians wrote in for them selves, laundry and dry cleaners are exempt. REALLY!?! Those are the biggest bags of them all! So While Joe paycheck has his apples and oranges rolling around his trunk mixing with the raw chicken, Jared Polis’ fresh dry cleaned suits will always be looking sharp.

Quit being overly dramatic. The bill specifically says that customers can place fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, bread, etc in single use bags inside the store. https://leg.colorado.gov/sites/defau...162_signed.pdf

Those things are so flimsy that anything in them bursts through the bottom most of the time.
