Yes, exactly. Didn't realize it was three months in a row. Ohio is doing much than pretty much every one of its neighbors minus West Virginia I believe. I thought Michigan was suppose to be making this amazing recover because of the auto industry, but yet they created about half the jobs that Ohio did. We will see what right-to-work does for Indiana, but I guess that is a completely different topic. Indiana is more prone to fall with manufacturing and agriculture; their economy isn't as diverse as Ohio's. But yes, I am a numbers/percentages person and I love to share the knowledge.

Me too. I have made numerous posts with facts in figures on here, but very little on the Ohio side recently (at least on C-D). It seems very few were interested and just considered it boosterism, so I've largely stopped doing it.

That's what I was afraid of, being called out for being some "chamber of commerce" type poster. Oh well, I will continue to post them just to let it be known, and post elsewhere in other threads as well. Feel free to post your numbers/links/etc, I will read them.

Columbus, Ohio Region: Driving Economic Growth In the Midwest | Site Selection Online

A nice article about how the Columbus area is growing in attractiveness for business expansion and relocation. It mentions that almost 190 companies have done this in the past year alone.

Jobless rates jump in Ohio

Columbus Dispatch, The (OH) - Wednesday, July 25, 2012
Author: Mark Williams, THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

An influx of students finishing classes and heading into the job market is being blamed for a rise in the jobless rate in central Ohio -- and for 85 of the state's 88 counties -- last month.

The Columbus metropolitan area's rate rose to 6.4 percent in June from 6.1 percent in May, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Even so, central Ohio still has the lowest unemployment rate of any metro area in the state. The state rate, announced Friday, fell to 7.2 percent from 7.3 percent in May on an adjusted basis. Unlike that rate, however, the county figures that came out yesterday are not adjusted to take into account seasonal variations.

One thing I did notice for the Columbus metro is that the civilian labor force, or the population of work age, has been steadily rising in recent months. It jumped up by almost 10,000 people from May to June, indicating that the metro is adding people quickly and that more people are coming back on the rolls to find work. This is actually indicative of a fairly decent economy, even if the returning people force the unemployment rate up a few tenths.
