I can't speak for everyone else, but I just respect what action he took here. I'm in no way inferring this man is a saint and that he deserves anything beyond just being recognized for his actions in this case. At the same time, I don't think his past should matter either. Imagine how we would feel if every time we did something good, people would go digging to find something negative about us. I think we can take one particular moment that this man had and appreciate it, without trying to analyze his whole life.

People put John Lennon on a pedestal, he was a wife beater with a criminal record too. And he abandoned his older son.
