These events always attract such efforts. By tomorrow there will be renewed efforts to increase gun controls and enact new gun control laws. I'll make that a 100% guarantee.
I honestly don't believe that we will hear more about gun control after this, because it happened in New Orleans which is a city known for its large minority population and violent crimes. The violence didn't happen to the "right" people.

And this is coming from a white person. Sad, but true, IMO.

After the storm the quality of life in that area went down and it is a different place now. A very unsafe place.

If we had just had a couple dozen armed teachers riding shotgun.....

The only answer to to the gun problems are less guns.

Well regulated doesn't mean banning all gun instead of water pistols. I'm not even a gun owner, but it's disingenuous to me, to say you have a law to allow people to do something, but then prevent them from exercising that right in most cases. It especially doesn't make sense, when putting such regulations doesn't actually accomplish the intended goal of curving violence, see Chicago as an example.

You obviously know nothing about gun control laws. Cite one single gun control law that bans everything but water pistols. Despite the right wing gun nuts whining, a law abiding, non felon, is not banned from owning a gun.

It's called sarcasm or at least an exaggeration. Does banning "assault weapons" mean anything to you? That wording is extremely vague and depending on who you ask, can mean many different things and thus can restrict a large portion of guns.

You are very smart to use strategic words like saying "not banned from owning a gun", but that was my point. It's not about being able to own a gun, it's about punishing people from getting most guns.

Do you think Chicago is effective with the gun laws they use in Illnois?

Blacks shooting blacks, already off the front page of Yahoo and Google. Read this morning that there were 6 cops every 100 yards in the parade.

Move on, nothing to see here.

For the 2235th time, gun control does not ban guns!!!!!!!!

It merely regulates the owners!

There is no breach of your Constitution!

Equate it to a drivers licence - you have to prove your not blind/stupid/disabled/a vehicular homicidal maniac, that you can drive your car according to the road rules, and keep it in a reasonable condition that doesn't cause harm to others.

It's got zero to do with individual "rights" and everything to do with protecting those who cannot protect themselves - like small children for example.

Criminals don't obey laws.

Look at what law abiding folks in NYC and Chicago have to go through in order to buy a handgun. It's quite extensive and expensive. That essentially makes it a "privilege" for the connected and/or financially well off to purchase. Do those who are not connected and/or financially well off a right to defend their own home?

If someone broke into your home, do you think the police will get there on time?

Don't you think that law abiding, honest, hard working people have a right to defend themselves from the criminal element?

Or is your attitude a "give them what they want and as long as you're safe" then that's okay? What if the male criminal wants more than your purse?

The attitude of giving in to evil has been the start of the downfall of this country. The inmates run the asylum and it's a shame. We treat criminals better than the elderly. People just believe whatever the boob tube tells them, including how to vote.

Logic and reasoning has been replaced by emotion and political correctness.
