I used to take the train from Wilmington to points north, and other points, when I lived up that way. It was so much easier than a flight and you could go somewhere interesting and be home for dinner. If there were a train from here to Wilmington, I would be there far more often than I am.

thanks for offering that clarification. I am assuming people in lower Delaware (like the Eastern Shore) use the Bay Bridge to get to Baltimore and DC... and given the connection for vacations and retirements from the DC Baltimore area would such service become an option. Would people take a train from lower DE to Baltimore/DC? I guess the planners have to figure that out. With all the concerns now being placed on the Bay Bridge from what happened at the Key Bridge.... maybe they will do that sooner rather than later I would assume that many of the transplants that may live in lower DE may be used to or not be averse to traveling by train ( DC, MD, PA, NY and NJ) residents in particular.

"This proposed rail service, known as the Diamond State Line, would connect Wilmington or Newark through Dover to Harrington, and then continue southbound along one of two potential routes:
Corridor 1: Extending through Seaford with service to Salisbury, Maryland.
Corridor 2: Branching at Harrington and running east to Milford, then south to Georgetown with service to Berlin, Maryland. Notably, neither of these corridors would directly serve Delaware’s beaches.
The study will assess existing railroad rights-of-way, station locations, and socioeconomic factors. The population in southern Delaware is growing, particularly among retirees, and improved rail service could boost economic development."

They must be handing out 500k for these studies like candy because that's the same stipend they are giving for a study for Scranton to NYC. Many Pocono denizens have heard this pipe dream on our end so I am hoping for DE residents sake that this isn't another election year ruse.
