Hi all,

My husband and I are considering leaving our rural Maine farm for a less complicated lifestyle and better access to resources. Delaware is a possibility due to the proximity to family in Leesburg, VA and Atlantic Highlands, NJ. We work remotely so that's not an issue. We have a 12 year old who attends private school, so schools are definitely a consideration. We're looking for a planned, safe, community that offers some amenities - neighborhood for our son to ride his bike, a community pool, access to water, golf, etc. Open to single family home or a townhouse. Budget probably $500k. Where should we start our search? Best counties? How are taxes? Crime? Access to quality healthcare is important, also. I appreciate any leads!

I would suggest looking at New Castle County first. The other two counties are either rural or more oriented to retirees and tourists. I do not have a suggestion other than Hockessin. I know it has good school rateing, which indicates a safe an affluent community. Everywhere in Delaware is a short drive to the beach.

You might also look in Sussex County. Bay Forest at Bethany Beach is a planned community rated the best in the USA in 2108. Check their list of amenities including bike trails: https://bayforestbeach.com/community-plan.html NV Homes is in your price range.
