I admire the history, lore of the Mississippi River and proxmity to other cities like Dubuque, Chicago and Iowa City. Otherwise, it's Des Moines for everything else except maybe terrain.

I'm sure your "in-depth" analysis will come as a shock to all those major entities (Alcoa, John Deere, United States Department of Defense, Modern Woodmen, etc.) who have invested hundreds of millions in the Quad City area and its people for decades.
Nobody will dispute the QC area took some hard knocks economically and hasn't experienced the raging population growth of Des Moines. However, when it comes to cultural amenities and overall quality of life, the Quad Cities is much closer to Des Moines than it is to "nothing."
