I see a lot of movies in theater, but I almost never buy food there. I occasionally get popcorn, but for the most part just bring in a couple of the exact same boxes of candy they sell for $4.99 bought at the grocery store for $1.
I NEVER get drinks, because then I just have to pee and miss parts of the movie. I try to limit my fluid intake before as well.

Most of the big Theaters do not allow this. For example, AMC and Regal both have corporate policies prohibiting outside food.
It's best if you wait until after to movie to have your candy binge.
I usually stop at a store and get some goobers and a bottled water, but in my town we have Alamo Drafthouses where they sell good and fresh reasonably priced food and drinks that they deliver to you. I love the pretzels and kid sized milkshakes. They have tables in front of the chairs and if you dont order anything, you can still get free big glasses of ice water but the popcorn in itself is also cheap and free refills that they bring to you.
I don't. I rather sneak in my own variation of theatre food: carne asada fries.. yummm!!
